To me it smells more like an attempt to shut everyone up than the legitimate beginning of a consistent work ethic.
I could see Russell's agent sitting down with him and saying "nobody thinks you work hard enough. Here's what I think we should do to boost your image."
But I'm a cynic. So shoot me.
