Would you want Michael Vick on your favorite NFL team? Would you want Michael Vick on your favorite NFL team?
Michael Vick still has nearly two months to go before he completes his federal jail sentence in connection with bankrolling a dogfighting operation in Virginia.
But that hasn't kept NFL analysts and fans wondering when and where he'll be on the field in 2009, provided NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reinstates Vick, a game-breaking quarterback when he was last seen on an NFL gridiron in 2006.
The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle's Bob Matthews would love to see the Bills add Vick to their roster, figuring if WR Terrell Owens is already on board -- and receiving scads of adulation in Buffalo -- why not go for broke and mix Vick into the offense, too? (Maybe that would help the Bills break their near-decade long absence from the playoffs.)
Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall, like Vick a former Atlanta Falcon and Virginia Tech Hokie, thinks Vick would look great in a San Francisco 49ers uniform. (Who knows? Given his overtures toward Jay Cutler, maybe Redskins owner Dan Snyder might consider bringing Vick to D.C. given QB Jason Campbell's tenuous status with one year left on his contract.)
Numerous other players have come out in support of Vick, too, though more than a few NFL organizations won't even utter his name. (In fairness, talking about Vick could be construed as tampering since he's still technically a member of the Falcons while also currently on the league's suspended list. However, the Falcons are trying to trade his rights and owner Arthur Blank has said Vick will not play for the team again.)
The question now is, where will Vick play, if at all, in 2009?
