His 20 day retirement is over and fans welcomed Derrick Mason back with a standing ovation at training camp on Sunday. The star receiver had announced retirement 3 weeks ago. But has since had a change of heart.
He was back on the field for his first practice with the Ravens this weekend. And despite the rain, fans were delighted to see him there.
The 35 year old two time Pro-Bowler had said his family was the main reason he decided to retire. That decision came not long after the unexpected death of former teammate Steve McNair.
But after numerous calls and visits from teammates and coaches, Mason changed his mind. Fans say they are excited to see him come back and can't wait for a great season.
This is the final year of Mason's contract. He hasn't said what his plans are after this season, only that he's looking forward to a good year.
