| Bills select Penn State DE Maybin with 11th pick The Buffalo Bills drafted Penn State defensive end Aaron Maybin with the 11th overall pick in the first round of the NFL draft. Maybin, 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds, was the fastest highly regarded pass rusher available in the draft. He fills a big need for a team that tied for 28th in quarterback sacks last season. As a redshirt sophomore last season, Maybin had 12 sacks for the Nittany Lions, along with 20 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles. The concern about Maybin entering the draft was that he was leaving college early and only had one big year. He also played at 234 pounds for Penn State. However, he bulked up to 250 pounds since the season ended. The Bills play a defensive scheme that accentuates the need for speed in the front four. Like Indianapolis, Tampa and Chicago, other teams that play that scheme, the Bills are willing to use lighter players at defensive end. Other options for the Bills when their choice came up were linebackers Brian Cushing and Clay Matthews of Southern California and offensive tackle Michael Oher of Mississippi. The Bills pick again at No. 28 in the first round and at No. 42 overall in the second round. LINK >> Bills select Penn State DE Maybin with 11th pick : Sports : The Buffalo News
