Broncos Ex-Bronco Vance Johnson arrested

Poor amigo...

9NEWS.com | Colorado's Online News Leader | Ex-Bronco Vance Johnson arrested

FORT COLLINS - Former Denver Broncos wide receiver Vance Johnson was arrested Thursday at the Larimer County Justice Center, according to a county arrest report.

The report indicates Johnson was arrested for a "civil matter" and on a warrant out of Garfield County.

After being booked into the Larimer County jail, he posted a bond of $41,500 just shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday, according to the booking department at the jail.

According to Colorado Court records, the Ford Motor Credit Company filed a civil suit against Johnson in November 2008 and won a default judgment for $48,442.09 in January.

Records show a new order was issued in the case April 7, but the nature of that order wasn't immediately available. The most recent filing in the case was made Wednesday, the day before Johnson's arrest in Fort Collins.

It wasn't immediately clear why Johnson was at the Larimer courthouse when he was arrested. There are no open cases in Larimer County under Johnson's name, according to court records.

Johnson was also arrested in February 2008 by Rifle police after he allegedly failed to appear in court in a bad check case in Larimer County from 2001.

Johnson was best known as one of the "Three Amigos" - along with fellow wide receivers Mark Jackson and Ricky Nattiel - who played together for the Broncos from 1987 to 1992. They played in three Super Bowls but lost each one.

Johnson has faced difficult times in recent years. His 19-year-old son died in a Denver auto accident in September 2007.

His Garfield County home went into foreclosure in March 2008, and he surrendered his 2006 Land Rover in February 2008, according to the Glenwood Springs Post-Independent.

"Shortly after my son died, life kind of got tough for me," Johnson said in an April 2008 interview with the Post-Independent. "As a result, things kind of caught up with me business-wise because it was hard enough waking up in the mornings, let alone anything else in life."
