Marshall doesn't mince words: 'I hate Denver'

DENVER - Maybe Brandon Marshall wanted out of Denver long before he formally requested a trade with Broncos owner Pat Bowlen earlier this month.

A police report obtained by FOX 31 News shows Marshall made disparaging remarks about the city in 2007. On October 22nd of that year, Marshall was arrested for DUI and, according to police, told them "I hate Denver. I hope I get traded."

In addition, Marshall also asked police "Why aren't you guys out there looking for (Darrent) Williams' killer?," a reference to the former Broncos cornerback who was slain in a hail of gunfire New Year's Day 2007.

Marshall made the statements after he was pulled over for going the wrong way down 14th Street near Auraria Parkway.

The Broncos wide receiver, who was in the midst of a breakout season, told police he was dining at Elway's steakhouse and had nothing to drink. After initially refusing several times to take a breathalyzer test, Marshall blew a .116. The legal limit in Colorado is .08.

"It makes me think of Michael Vick and all these other guys," Broncos fan Johnny Robinson said. "The thing we need to do in the NFL is root out all those guys, you got bad attitudes, you got arrest records, get them out."

The police report says Marshall was "Crying" at the time of the arrest.

"If I remember correctly that's what most of my girlfriends do when they get pulled over for tickets," fan Dylan Bailey said.

"Put that on the news, and show everybody he's not as though as he plays out to be," Robinson added.

Most fans we talked to said, if Marshall really wants out of Denver, the Bronco's should let him go.

"If he doesn't want to be here ship him out," Scott Elliot said, echoing many other fans.

The arrest report only includes DPD's side of the story. FOX 31 called Marshall's attorney Harvey Steinberg to get the player's side, but our call was not returned.

Marshall has found trouble for much of his tenure with the Broncos. Since joining the team in 2006, he has been cited in seven police reports in three different states and Puerto Rico.

He was suspended one game last season as a result of violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

Marshall has skipped all of the team's voluntary and mandatory workouts this spring as he attempts to force a trade. He has one year remaining on his contract that will pay him $2.198 million.

The Broncos say they have no plans to trade him.

George is on a distinguished road
Broncos What would you expect

I live in Wyoming and have been pulled over in Denver. The policeman was the biggest asshole on the earth. You get a young wet behind the ears jerk, give him a gun and he will be too arrogant for his own good. Marshall was in the wrong, but how about calling a cab, taking away his keys and sending him home? Give any young man millions of dollars, and without the right mentoring the majority of them will end up in trouble.
