Packers GM Ted Thompson wouldn't confirm it, but the Wisconsin State Journal reported that Green Bay is the idea of signing free-agent QB Michael Vick. From the Journal: "The team is doing thorough due diligence on the former NFL quarterback and has had legitimate discussions about the idea of signing him, according to sources." Thompson refused to fuel the Vick rumor when asked about it on Tuesday. "We're always looking to improve our team and we look at all options at all times," Thompson said. "I wouldn't care to speculate in terms of the odds or anything like that." And team president Mark Murphy seconded Thompson's comments in remarks to the Journal. “I don’t see anything there. I don’t anticipate anything happening there,” Murphy said. “How do you say it? Much ado about nothing.” If the Packers are simply considering Vick, they would not be the first team to do so. While some teams flat-out dismissed the idea of signing Vick, several coaches, including New England's Bill Belichick, said they would evaluate Vick as they do other free agents. THE VICK LIST: What each NFL team has said publicly about Vick Ravens coach John Harbaugh acknowledged Vick had come up in their player evaluations. "We've had long discussions about (Vick) and we have a feeling about how he would impact our team and not impact our team," Harbaugh said. But the Packers could have a need for Vick, as their quarterback depth behind starter Aaron Rodgers is unsettled. Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn, both second-year players, are behind Rodgers.
