Jaguars Man accused of shooting Jags' Collier in court

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—Attorneys say the trial of a man accused in the shooting that left a former Jacksonville Jaguars player paralyzed is on schedule to start later this month.

The trial is set to begin Sept. 21.

At a hearing Tuesday for 32-year-old Tyrone Hartsfield, both defense attorney Ann Finnell and Assistant State Attorney Bernie de la Rionda said they don't expect anything to delay the trial.

Hartsfield is charged with attempted murder and possession of a gun by a convicted felon. Former Jaguars player Richard Collier was shot 14 times about a year ago as he sat in his car outside a Jacksonville apartment waiting for a woman.

Prosecutors claim Hartsfield shot the former offensive lineman as revenge for a fight. Collier was paralyzed and had his left leg amputated.
