Chiefs pick DE Tyson Jackson
Unable to move out of the third spot in the draft, the Chiefs today selected Louisiana State defensive end Tyson Jackson with their first-round pick.
Jackson figures to step in as an immediate starter. Jackson is generally considered a better run defender than pass rusher, so he may have to come out of the game on obvious passing downs, at least early in his career.
The Chiefs worked to move down from the No. 3 spot before choosing. They offered the Lions that pick plus a fourth-round choice in return for Detroit's other first-rounder (No. 20) and Detroit's second-rounder (No. 33).
The Lions rejected the offer.
