MIAMI (CBS) ― The Miami Dolphins have announced that some players will not attend Saturday night's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers after they tested positive for the swine flu, according to CBS station WFOR-TV.
The team has been advised of the news, but not told who specifically had come down with the highly contagious disease.
If a disease like swine flu becomes widespread, it could pose quite a problem for the NFL and individual teams. The task will fall on the trainers to make sure it doesn't spread to other players.
According to The Miami Herald, players have been told to wash their hands regularly and maintain good hygiene to avoid the disease.
The World Health Organization said Friday many countries could see swine flu cases double every three to four days for several months until peak transmission is reached, once cold weather returns to the northern hemisphere.
Fifty-nine people have died from H1N1, or swine flu, in Florida, WFOR-TV reported.
