Vikings Favre enjoying freedom in Vikings offense

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.—Brett Favre has only been with the Minnesota Vikings for a month. But he already seems to enjoy more freedom with the offense than any previous quarterback under coach Brad Childress.

Favre made several adjustments at the line of scrimmage in the season-opening victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Veterans Gus Frerotte and Brad Johnson both complained in the past that Childress didn't let them react to what they saw from the defense after they broke the huddle.

Apparently Favre's three MVP awards, one Super Bowl ring and numerous passing records have earned him some flexibility from Childress.

Favre's familiarity with offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell from their time in Green Bay adds to that comfort.
