Brett Favre: 'If someone calls Nov. 1, who knows?'
Brett Favre said it's "very unlikely" he'll change his mind about playing again in the NFL.
But in comments to SI.com, Favre acknowledged that he could be enticed to play at some point this season.
"I really believe this is it," Favre told the site. "I truly, truly believe it's over. But if someone calls Nov. 1, who knows?''
On Tuesday Favre told the Vikings he would remain retired and decline the team's offer to join it for training camp. Favre later told the NFL Network that he would continue throwing and working out.
Favre told SI.com that it "hurts" to have said no to the Vikings, with whom he already felt comfortable in the offense.
"By saying no, I know I'm leaving an incredible opportunity on the table," he said, "and that opportunity is not coming back.'
Update: Favre's agent, Bus Cook, continued to leave the door open to a return in comments to ESPN today (via PFT): "I don't think he'd go to a team unless it was a contender. In fact, he probably wouldn't go to a team unless its the Minnesota Vikings."
