That being said, it's plain to see by what's taken place that JR is still Al's boy. Hue Jackson was brought in to make JR successful with his work with Flacco as the highlight of his resume. I believe that Jackson's employment hinges directly on what JR does next season. Al placed a buffer between Cable and Russell, and Cable is favored by the other players - we all know that Al listens to his players more than any other owner.
I'm hoping Jackson can light a fire under pudgy and at least spark the same desire he had at LSU. IMO the best possible outcome would be for Russell to be what Al thinks he can be, and who I thought he was when he was drafted. JR was the guy I wanted Al to take so I can't bitch about the selection. |
I believe Al cut a deal with Cable. Cable comes back as HC, and in return he does everything in his power to turn Russell into the starting QB. However, if Russell just can't cut it I believe Cable will have the authority to make the final call on the starter.
JMO. Gut feeling. I don't believe Cable would back down on his stance re: Russell. It's too critical to his chances for success.
