I like Clausen as well, I rather have him develop under Jackson's system than wasting time trying to save Russell from being one of the biggest bust in the NFL. I say trade Aso and Russell for Sanchez and their OL. Done deal
nahh all about clausen. but the jets didnt make anything because of sanchez. they made it because of their defense and the running game. they did not need the pass game at all. and if they did they could lean on cotchery and keller, and sometimes edwards... now dont get me wrong. id take sanchez over russell ANYDAY... but i think with 2 first round picks we could move up and get either bradford or clausen (i prefer clausen but others want bradford).... that is if we went a new qb path...

If it were up to me JR would be released outright and we would look at a QB in the 2nd round or later.

That being said, it's plain to see by what's taken place that JR is still Al's boy. Hue Jackson was brought in to make JR successful with his work with Flacco as the highlight of his resume. I believe that Jackson's employment hinges directly on what JR does next season. Al placed a buffer between Cable and Russell, and Cable is favored by the other players - we all know that Al listens to his players more than any other owner.

I'm hoping Jackson can light a fire under pudgy and at least spark the same desire he had at LSU. IMO the best possible outcome would be for Russell to be what Al thinks he can be, and who I thought he was when he was drafted. JR was the guy I wanted Al to take so I can't bitch about the selection.

I knew he was a scumbag even when people were hoping the Raiders would select this guy.

Dude is the most talented QB in the league, talent can go a LOOOOng way, that being said, he needs to put in blood, sweat, and tears in to, the he will be a great QB.

I think he can do it.

I believe Al cut a deal with Cable. Cable comes back as HC, and in return he does everything in his power to turn Russell into the starting QB. However, if Russell just can't cut it I believe Cable will have the authority to make the final call on the starter.

JMO. Gut feeling. I don't believe Cable would back down on his stance re: Russell. It's too critical to his chances for success.
