Default Haynesworth

The Raiders should seriously look into trading for Albert Haynesworth - clearly, Shanahan has lost patience with him and it is equally clear that Haynesworth is over Mike Shannahan; Shanahan had Haynesworth play nearly the entire game in the last meaningless pre-season game. Wow, a pro-bowler playing all four quarters of the last pre-season game. Not surprisingly, Haynesworth did not play well - he likely took it as a huge insult, which, let's be honest, it was. I think Haynesworth is worth a shot in Silver n' Black, he has shown the ability to be a difference maker and, after his experience with Shanahan, he will likely want to show Washington the cost of hiring Shanahan. However, a concern would be his contract status.

I have to disagree with you guys on this one. Seems to me we are building a team with lots of young talent. This guy is overpaid like a motherfucker. He is Chester Mcglockton all over again. The guy is poison even his own teammates don't like him, so that is saying something. Most guys will back a player over the coach, but in this instance it seems they are throwing this fat pig under the bus. I don't know if you guys happen to catch Mike Golic on ESPN. He was able to pass the conditioning test and he's 45! Haynesworth wasn't able to pass and this for how many weeks? Oh and that "disease" that breaks down muscle faster. Is not a disease it's a condition that can be remedied by exercising frequently. And on top of that I can't stand his stupid looking face.

I agree with you 100% on Haynesworth. He will poison our young impressionable talents. That's a "NO" to Haynesworth.

Not surprisingly, I have to disagree with you; you stated he is overpaid, yes, but if his salary is guaranteed by Washington, then he should not cost too much - regardless, his contract is a concern, but he should be considered for the right price. Poison? The only poison I see in Washington (in regards to football only) is Shanahan - how many pro-bowl players making $100 million have to take a "conditioning test"? For that matter how many of his teammates had to take this so-called conditioning test?

By the way, I did watch the Golic run on ESPN, but I also watched when they reported that Haynesworth was actually passing the test, before being excused for the restroom - he came back about 15 minutes later with an "injury". Clearly, Haynesworth was (rightly) upset at Shanahan and his ego-trip, so Haynesworth (rightly) called him out and stated that he had an injury.

Bah, Shannahan had his pro-bowl player play almost the entire game of a completely meaningless pre-season game (when the starters barely, or do not at all, play). Look, if his contract is guaranteed and the price is right - Oakland should take a look at him; especially since he will likely play with a chip on his shoulder and I am not sold on our run defense.

I have to disagree with you. He is lazy, with bad knees. He's 29 not young, but not old. IF the Raiders were a serious contender for the SB, then maybe this trade might make sense. Also he is highly overpaid, do the words " JaMarcus, Walker" come into mind. We dont need a distraction on this team. Right now it seems like all Raiders have good mindset. I like having Tommy Kelly, 55 tackles/ 1 sack.
Haynesworth 37 tackles/ 4 sacks
Sure Kelly didnt have a lot of sacks last year, but that's why we have King Richard, and our D-ends to sack.
PLUS Shannahan wont trade with the Raiders!.

Two words; Jason Campbell. You cited his contract as a negative, but I stated that if the price was right - not that we should get him at any cost, but rather the Raiders should look into Haynesworth and see what the cost would be.

You don't think he's poison? Isn't this the same guy that cleated another players face while he was on the ground with his helmet off? Shanny has a big ego yes, but atleast he has a couple of rings to back him up. What does haynesworth have? A pro bowl and big contract. I think he is messing with to make him quit or to document a pattern of insubordination to enable them cut him with out having to pay him for conduct detrimental to the team. I think it's a well thought out shrewd plan.

Interesting, at first you argued that the problem was Haynesworth since he is poison;

So, either it is Shanahan's fault for "messing" with Haynesworth or Haynesworth's fault for being a "poison." In the alternative, perhaps you are arguing a little of both; Haynesworth is poison and Shanahan is messing with him. If this is the case, then Shanahan is still outsmarting himself since he is the cause of the breach and thus Washington will have to pay both financially and on the field; Washington was aware of what they were getting in Haynesworth and accepted him by signing him, but then Shanahan came in and, for whatever reason (perhaps, believing Haynesworth is poison) did not like Haynesworth, so he started messing with him.

As a result, Haynesworth, clearly is not happy and will likely not bleed for the Redskins which is bad for the team on the field and since Shanahan started messing with Haynesworth in an attempt to get rid of him, then the Redskins would be liable for his cost since Shanahan, as a servant to the principal, the Redskins, was the actual cause of the breach.

Either way, with the Raiders signing Alford, it seems very unlikely that they would make a move for Haynesworth.
