Santonio Holmes has put great distance between himself and the New York Jets this offseason thanks to comments he’s made in the media. He may have driven himself out of New York, in fact.
So where to next?
Holmes could make an interesting fit in the AFC West, particularly with the Oakland Raiders who are lacking veteran leadership at the position.
If he is an unrestricted free agent he will be free to test the waters wherever he so pleases. As evidenced by his pre-lockout spending spree, Al Davis is unafraid back up the truck for players he believes in.
There is little doubt the troubled receiver would be a good fit for the team and give Jason Campbell a viable target this season. However, his off the field demeanor may not be worth the trouble.
Odds are there are plenty of teams who will feel differently.
Staying in the AFC West, the Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers could also prove to be potential landing spots for Holmes according to ESPN’s Bill Williamson.
