NAPA -- Raiders receiver Jacoby Ford has a broken left hand and should be out for at least two weeks according to coach Hue Jackson.

Ford suffered the injury in Saturday's practice, the first practice in which the Raiders wore pads and hit at full speed. Following that practice, the second-year pro was seen emerging from the locker room with his entire left arm bandaged/wrapped, from his biceps to the middle of his hand.

"Everybody's looking going, 'Oh gosh, here we go,'" Jackson said following Sunday's practice. "Jacoby Ford will be fine, O.K.? And, again, those are the things that happen. But he's good. He'll be back. I feel very good about it. He's good, his spirits are good and we'll be rolling soon.

"He'll be ready for the start of the season and on we go."

As a rookie in 2010, the diminutive Ford emerged as a deep threat as well as a special teams ace, returning a team-record three kickoffs for touchdowns. Against Kansas City in Week Nine, he had six receptions for 148 yards as well as 158 yards in kickoff returns, including his 94-yard score to open the second half.

For the season, the fourth-round draft choice from Clemson averaged 18.8 yards per reception in catching 25 passes for 470 yards with two touchdowns. Ford returned 53 kickoffs for 1,280 yards, averaging 24.2 yards, and his three TD's, from 94 yards, 101 yards and 99 yards. Nick Miller has been returning kickoffs in practice thus far.

When Gruden was asked if he would coach the Raiders again he was quoted as saying, ”Tomorrow if I could”.
