I do not believe it - there is something else at play. He mentioned, in another interview, something about how much his wife liked it in Seattle; a good place to raise a family or some such.

It was all about the money i personally feel he is not worth 6.8 mil just my opinion guys just need to step up hopefully we can pickup Kevin Boss cause we do need an experienced TE

Unbelievable how many here want(ed) to keep Coach Cable - when he did absolutely nothing before Coach Jackson came. Out of all the moves that are hard to understand lately, keeping Coach Jackson is one that makes sense. Extending Coach Cable's contract would have led to the eventual loss of Coach Jackson - that would have been a huge loss [again, compare the past season with Jackson, to the previous one's with Cable - there is no comparison, the Raiders made the right decision]. Not even trying to sign Nnamdi is a real head scratcher, not to mention the miss-handling of Miller's contract.
