Raiders Raiders have reached agreement on a deal to acquire quarterback Carson Palmer

The Raiders have reached agreement on a deal to acquire quarterback Carson Palmer from the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for a first-round draft pick and a conditional draft pick, according to Fox Sports and ESPN.
Palmer refused to play with the Bengals this season, sitting out rather than collect $11.5 million in salary. Jackson has a relationship with Palmer in that he was a wide receivers coach in Cincinnati the last time the Bengals went to the playoffs. The Raiders would be on the hook for $7.44 of Palmer's remaining salary, considerably more than the $4.1 million Jason Campbell will make over the entire season.
According to ESPN, the Raiders will trade their first pick of the 2012 draft and a conditional pick in 2013, effectively wiping out their selections for next year's draft.
The Raiders have dealt away much of that draft, although they are due compensatory picks for lost free agents and can still trade existing players for more draft picks.
The acquisition falls in line with Jackson's "the time is now" mantra.
Last week, the Raiders dealt for weakside linebacker Aaron Curry of Seattle and immediately inserted him into the starting lineup. It remains to be seen whether Jackson and offensive coordinator Al Saunders could pull that off with a quarterback, with Palmer, 31, having had no training camp and missing the first six games of the season.

Raiders | More on Carson Palmer trade
Tue, 18 Oct 2011 09:52:44 -0700

Updating a previous report, the Oakland Raiders will give up another first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft to the Cincinnati Bengals if they win a playoff games this season as compensation for QB Carson Palmer. If the Raiders don't win a playoff game, the Bengals will receive a second-round pick in 2013. Palmer was willing to restructure his contract, which would pay him $6.9 million for the balance of the year.
