| NFL player in good condition after shooting Police said there were no new developments after former West Catholic standout Curtis Brinkley was shot multiple times. San Diego Chargers running back Curtis Brinkley, a West Catholic High School and Syracuse University graduate who lives in Philadelphia, was listed in good condition Friday afternoon after being shot while sitting in his car around midnight Thursday. According to Cheltenham police, Brinkley was stopped in his vehicle near the intersection of Spring Avenue and Ashbourne roads when someone approached his vehicle and shot him multiple times. Brinkley was able to flee the scene, and after being found by police, was transported him to Albert Einstein Medical Center Trauma Center. Police have no suspects and could offer no motive for the shooting as of Friday, though witnesses did provide a description of the man they said did the shooting. Brinkley's shooting occurred just six days after former NFL quarterback Steve McNair was shot and killed by his girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi, in what police are calling a murder-suicide. While attending West Catholic, Brinkley rushed for 7,429 yards and 85 touchdowns, breaking the Philadelphia prep school record previously held by NFL running back Kevin Jones. Brinkley went on to play four seasons at Syracuse and rushed for 1,100 yards during his senior year in 2008. Although he went undrafted in 2009, he was signed by the San Diego Chargers as a free agent shortly afterward. Anyone with any additional information concerning the shooting is urged to call Cheltenham Township Police at 215-885-1600.
